Gloucester & Forest Centre of Mission

Gloucester & Forest Centre of Mission ministers in Matson, a community on the edge of Gloucester city, and Coleford, a small market town in the Forest of Dean, south-east of Gloucester. Matson is bordered by countryside, but can feel a bit on the edge of things. This centre of mission is a partnership between Church Army and the Diocese of Gloucester and was launched in September 2019 with Andy Wilson as Lead Evangelist, based in Matson. Some parts of Matson are among the most deprived communities in the UK.  Andy has been involved in prayer walks in the community, building relationships at the community cafe and pioneering a new Fresh expression of Church. Parallel to this work, Pioneer Evangelist, Debbie Orriss, has begun work in Coleford.  Debbie's work includes co-ordinating Coleford Community Meals, where meals are cooked in a local cafe and delivered to those in need. She is also supporting Mustard Tree, an existing Fresh expression of Church. The centre of mission will be involved in supporting and developing a lay pioneer leadership network across the diocese and Diocesan training around mission and evangelism. They will be partnering with other organisations to enable this work to all take place. Andy's latest newsletter can be read here and you can read Debbie's newsletter here.
